Things to Do in Winter
Warm up from the cold in one of Glenwood Springs’ famous hot springs pools. One of the top things to do in winter in Glenwood Springs is Glenwood Hot Springs, with 90° to 93°F thermal pools and a 104°F therapy pool that offers the perfect way to melt away the chill or wind down after a day on the slopes.
For a more intimate experience, relax with a beer and watch the snow fall from one of the 16 mineral hot springs soaking pools at Iron Mountain Hot Springs. Iron Mountain’s pools range in temperature from 99° to 108°F and overlook the mountains and the Colorado River meandering through the nearby valley.
Take in the Best of the Rockies
There’s no better place to get out and experience everything Colorado has to offer in winter than the heart of the Rockies. Try your hand at Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, or snowmobiling at Sunlight Mountain, featuring 29 kilometers of groomed trails and multiple snowmobile tour options.
When it’s winter in Glenwood and you’re not a snow sports enthusiast, the Glenwood Springs Historical Society may have just the thing for you! A tourist favorite is the Doc Holliday Museum in the heart of downtown Glenwood Springs at 732 Grand Avenue. The museum location is in the same place where the Hotel Glenwood once operated and where Doc passed in 1887.

Take a Hike
The Glenwood Canyon Trail and Bike Path begins near the Hot Springs Pool and winds along the Colorado River for 18 miles. The trail is an easily passable ten feet wide, paved, and has four rest areas along the way that offer restroom facilities, fresh drinking water, telephones, and picnic areas.
Hanging Lake is a not-to-be-missed highlight of the Glenwood Canyon. A unique travertine geological formation, Hanging Lake is accessible via a 1.2 mile trail. The awe-inspiring views provided by this Natural National Landmark are sure to create lifelong memories for the whole family.
A Glenwood Springs’ family destination highlight is a visit to gunslinger Doc Holliday’s grave. The short but uphill hike begins just a few blocks from the Hotel Maxwell Anderson.

Brewery and restaurant on site but a very short walk to a number of food dinner spots. Directly opposite Amtrak station but didn’t hear any noise from it or the I-70 across the river.”
